Gareth Glynne-Jones has been working closely with us now since 2018, and has made a significant, positive impact on our business.
His main engagment when starting, was on all our social media platforms, and we soon started setting trends which others have since tried to follow. Each post was carefully considered, with bespoke content for each platform, being considerate of the target audience. Our engagement and following grew exponentially, on Twitter, Instgram, Linkedin, and Facebook. Our reach sonn had significant global impact and the first years activity culminated in us having a then record year for green fee revenue, and winning the social media Club of the year award at the Club awards, which included all types of Clubs in all fields, not just golf.
As the pandemic hit us in early 2020, we considered new and innnovative ways to engage with our visitors and members, and Gareth worked tirelessly to do this, facilitating member events online. These included coaching seessions with the profressional, health and fitness stretching, sports personality evenings with an array of speakers from golf, cricket, football and an aolympic athlete, Club history evenings, weekly quizzes, and many more. This engagement not only helped the club retain member engagement and satisfaction, but provided significant content to bolster our already packed social media activity, with posts making us the envy of many.
This activity through the pandemic continued, and to such great effect that whilst we had lost in 2021, 60% of our business, which was from overseas cliebts, we replaced this, and more besides, resulting in another record year for green fee revenue, from a UK only customer base. The engagement with our overseas clients has contiued through innovative use of social media, covering history, coastal changes, great golf, stunning views, and major tournament reporting around our hosting of the Legends Tour, the marketing for which Gareth was also instrumental in, so much so that he was engaged by the Tour themselves, to promote the event. To achieve crowds of over 10,000 people, when we only knew four days prior to the event starting that we could allow spectators due to covid regulations, was an incredible achievement.
Momentum continues to increase, and in continuing our overseas engagement, now we are able to welcome back cliebts from the USA and Europe, we are again set for a record year of green fee revenue, with impressive forecasts. Gareth’s careful monitoring and updating of the website, and re-structuring to allow ease of contact from customers, has ensured phenominal figures for first time site visitors, as well as ever incresasing stickiness on the site, with the success of every page being regularly scrutinised. The linking of this technology to our member and visitor apps, for an exceptional customer experience, has helped generate improved databases, effectively building a roof for us whilst the sun shines, to ready us for any issue that may come our way.
